Have We Been Making Health Too Complicated?

Have you ever noticed how every week there seems to be a new health trend that promises to change your life?
One minute it's ice baths. The next it's red light therapy. Then it's the latest supplement with a name I can't pronounce, followed by another gadget that's apparently going to help us live to 100!
Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely love learning about health and keeping up with the latest research. It's one of the things I enjoy most about my job.
But if I'm honest, sometimes it all makes me chuckle.
Because the more I read, the more many of the experts seem to be coming back to exactly the same simple message.
Move your body regularly.
Build and maintain muscle.
Get enough sleep.
Manage your stress.
Spend time with people who make you smile.
Get outside, breathe some fresh air and enjoy a little sunshine.
Sound familiar?
If you've been with me for a while, you'll know these are the very things we talk about all the time.
The Wellness Industry Can Feel Overwhelming
Sometimes I think we've been led to believe that better health is always just one more purchase away.
A new gadget.
A new supplement.
A new morning routine.
A new miracle cure.
Before long, it can feel as though we're constantly chasing the next big thing, while wondering why everyone else seems to have it all worked out.
The truth is, we don't need to do everything.
We simply need to keep doing the things that matter most.
The Most Powerful Habits Are Often the Simplest
Some of the biggest improvements to our health come from habits that cost very little.
A walk in the sunshine.
A few strength exercises.
A good night's sleep.
A proper laugh with a friend.
A few minutes to slow down and take a deep breath.
They're not glamorous.
Nobody is going to make a Netflix documentary about your morning walk or your ten-minute strength session!
But over weeks, months and years, these little habits quietly add up to something incredibly powerful.
Consistency Beats Perfection Every Time
As we get older, I honestly believe this is one of the most reassuring things we can remember.
We really don't have to be perfect.
We don't need to follow every trend.
We don't need to buy every gadget.
Our bodies simply respond remarkably well to consistent care.
That's why I encourage my Flexpress members to focus on building simple habits that fit into everyday life, rather than chasing quick fixes that rarely last.
A Little Question for You
So this week I'd love you to ask yourself one simple question.
What healthy habit do I already know makes me feel better... and am I making enough time for it?
Perhaps it's getting out for a walk.
Perhaps it's doing a few minutes of strength work.
Perhaps it's going to bed half an hour earlier.
Or maybe it's picking up the phone and chatting to a friend.
Sometimes the answer isn't hidden in the latest health craze.
It's hidden in the things we've known all along but simply need reminding to keep doing.
Health doesn't have to be complicated.
In fact, some of the best things we can do for ourselves are also the simplest.
And I think there's something rather lovely about that, don't you😊
